Emotional Wellbeing Support
Responsible, Caring, Fearless & Secure
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 ESV
At RCFS, we have a dedicated Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner, David Fraser. He has many years of experience working with a recognised children’s mental health charity and is a valued member of our school community. David plays an important role in supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, mental health and social development.
How We Support Children
As Wellbeing Practitioner, David provides a range of support tailored to children’s needs:
- 1:1 therapeutic support for pupils who would benefit from individual sessions
- Small group interventions, focusing on areas such as anxiety, emotional regulation, friendships and self-esteem
- Support in developing resilience, emotional literacy and positive relationships
This work helps children to better understand their feelings, build confidence and develop strategies to manage challenges—supporting both their wellbeing and their learning, in line with the school’s wider approach.
Support for Families
We recognise the importance of working in partnership with families. David supports this by:
- Offering guidance and practical strategies for parents and carers
- Contributing to meetings where additional support is needed
- Signposting to external services where appropriate
If you have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing, we encourage you to contact the school.
Supporting the Whole School
In addition to working directly with children, David contributes to the wider school community by:
- Advising staff on children’s emotional needs
- Supporting a nurturing and inclusive school environment
- Helping ensure a consistent, joined-up approach to wellbeing across the school
Lunchtime Wellbeing Support
To further support pupils, David is available during break times to offer informal wellbeing support (previously known as Place2Talk). These sessions provide children with an opportunity to share worries or talk through concerns in a safe and supportive space. They are also great opportunities to model positive play and develop social skills that are key to ensuring all children have a positive play experience.
