In October 2009, RCS celebrated Black History week with lots of interesting and fun activities. We drew artefacts from different African countries and took part in African drumming and dancing workshops. Each class learned about a different influential person: Year 1 researched Michael Jackson, Year 2 looked at Barack Obama, Year 3 found out about Lenny Henry, Year 4 focused on Youssou D’Our, Year 5 worked on Usain Bolt and Year 6 were interested in Levi Roots. Children worked hard on finding out about their class focus and created some wonderful projects for homework. Some of the children then took part in a Mastermind Quiz with the person their class focused on as their specialist subject. Thanks to Mrs Church for organising such a successful week.
