Pupil Premium

Responsible, Caring & Secure

Pupil Premium Grant
The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is additional funding which is given to publicly-funded schools in England from the government in order to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils.

According to research carried out by the government, evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds, generally face added challenges in reaching their potential at school and may often not perform as well as their peers.

The Pupil Premium Grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress, attainment results they achieve and pastoral support.

At RCS we ask all parents/carers if they think they are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and ask them to fill out the paperwork – it makes an enormous difference to our school!

The school's pupil premium funding is based on the number of pupils they have in the January Census data which is collected each year and is not based on the ability of the child.

For the financial year 2019 – 2020, the same criteria currently used to assess FSM eligibility (e.g. if the family is receiving some benefits) will continue to be used to assess whether a pupil qualifies for the pupil premium (£1320 per child on FSM).

If a pupil is looked after / has been preciously looked after or is a member of a family whose parent(s) are serving in HM Forces or have retired on a pension from the Ministry of Defence, then the school will also receive some extra funding.
